Monthly Budget Calculator
See where your money goes and check it against the 50/30/20 rule.
Assumptions: needs = housing + transport + debt payments; wants = food + everything else; savings = whatever is left. The 50/30/20 rule is a guideline, not a law. These estimates are educational and not personalized financial advice.
How this is calculated
We add up your six spending categories for total expenses, subtract that from your income to get what is left, then divide what is left by your income for your savings rate.
Assumptions: Needs are housing, transport and debt payments; wants are food and everything else. The 50/30/20 targets are the classic guideline: 50% needs, 30% wants, 20% savings.
Limitations: The 50/30/20 split is a guideline, not a rule — expensive cities break it. Irregular yearly bills (insurance, holidays) are not captured by monthly inputs.
